Power Minister assures uninterrupted power to EPZs

Power Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi assured that there will be no scheduled power interruptions to Export Processing Zones functioning under the Investment Promotion Board (IPB), which play an important role in the Sri Lankan economy.

Minister Wanniarachchi took this decision at a meeting with BOI Chairman Raja Edirisuriya, BOI Director General Renuka Weerakoon and officials.

Currently there are 14 Trade Zones functioning under the IPB and due to the daily power cuts the production process of the most factories are being interrupted. Therefore, the export earnings of the country will decline and the investors will be discouraged, the officials revealed during the discussion.
