President Ranil Wickremesinghe warmly congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), and the people of India, on their historic achievement of successfully landing on the lunar South Pole with Chandrayaan-3, a first in the world.
In a letter directed to Prime Minister Modi, President Wickremesinghe emphasised the strong and enduring relationship between Sri Lanka and India as close neighbours and fellow members of the South Asian community. “He expressed immense pride in the nation as it celebrates this remarkable and significant achievement,” PMD in a statement noted.
Wickremesinghe underscored the global significance of Prime Minister Modi’s magnanimous gesture of dedicating this success to all of humanity, which he noted would inspire generations to pursue the advancement of scientific and technological progress.
He also bestowed best wishes for success in India’s endeavours to attain its future vision of exploring other planets in the solar system.
