President appoints 3 new Governors

Three new Governors were sworn in before President Ranil Wickramasinghe yesterday. 

Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena was sworn in as the Governor of the North-Western (Wayamba) Province, P.S.M. Charles as the Governor of the Northern Province and Senthil Thondaman as the Governor of the Eastern Province. 

The appointments follow the removal of Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda, Jeevan Thyagaraja and Anuradha Yahampath as respective Governors by President on Monday. 

Yapa is a former State Minister and Charles was a former Northern Province Governor and Director General of Sri Lanka Customs, whilst Thondaman is the leader of Ceylon Workers Congress.
