President Maithripala Sirisena in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has appointed Rear Admiral K.K.V.P.H. de Silva as the 23rd Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, with effect from 1 January 2019.
Rear Admiral Piyal de Silva received his letter of appointment from President Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday. He will be assuming duties as the Commander of the Navy from 1 January 2019.
Rear Admiral Piyal de Silva, served as Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy prior to his appointment will replace the 22nd Navy Commander Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe.
Secretary to the President Udaya R. Seneviratne and Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando were also present on the occasion.
