President assures sufficient fuel reserves

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake yesterday assured that the country has sufficient fuel reserves to meet its consumption needs, whilst urging officials from the Power and Energy Ministry to maintain these stocks and efficiently plan procurement for next year.

He assured full Presidential support in facilitating these efforts to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability for the public.

In a meeting with the Ministry officials, Dissanayake also stressed the importance of a clear roadmap for distributing solar panels to 800 Piriven, an initiative supported by Indian aid. 

He also directed the Ministry to swiftly devise a comprehensive plan to ensure the smooth implementation of this project.

Additionally, the President stressed the need to expedite ongoing projects financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and other foreign loans.  He announced the establishment of a committee to  cts within three months, with the goal of accelerating their execution.

Dissanayake expressed confidence that streamlining the approval process would enable more efficient implementation of the projects. 

Focusing on rural development, the President underscored the urgency of directing funds swiftly to villages, which he said would help boost the rural economy.  Dissanayake expressed faith in State officials, highlighting their critical role in achieving these objectives and urged them to work with dedication to meet the country’s development goals.
