A meeting between President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and representatives of the Progressive Trade Union Federation was held at the President’s House in Colombo on Saturday.

Senior activists of several trade unions including the National Center for Progressive Trade Union Federation, Sri Lanka Nidahasa Sewaka Sangamaya and Progressive Public Service Trade Union Federation participated in the meeting.

The President said he has focused his attention to find immediate solutions to the problems faced by the trade unions and the Government is committed to establishing an efficient public service despite the obstacles posed by a few.

The President emphasised that he expects from the trade unions an attitudinal change that will contribute to the benefit of the people, instead of traditional trade union actions.
