United National Party (UNP) Chairman MP Wajira Abeywardena yesterday said President Ranil Wickremesinghe will take steps to suppress any threats to national security arising out of attempts to create religious disharmony in the country.
“The President will not allow any acts that attempt to spread racial and religious disharmony in the country,” he said.
The MP made these comments while making a special statement to the media in Colombo yesterday.
Abeywardena said the President’s main aim in taking over the country was to rebuild the fallen nation. “It is the responsibility of all public representatives to come to a national agreement on the matter,” he noted.
