Presidential Committee report on land release tabled

A copy of the report of the Presidential Commission appointed to enquire into the deforestation of Wilpattu to resettle people was tabled yesterday in Parliament.

Moving the report, the Deputy Speaker and the Chair of Committees Ananda Kumarasiri held the Secretary to President Maithripala Sirisena has accepted the request Speaker Karu Jayasuriya sent on 22 March by providing a copy, which is now available at the Parliament library for the lawmakers use.

President Sirisena appointed the committee on 21 June 2017 to look into the deforestation of Wilpattu National Park. (AH)
