Prime Minister is not stepping down - PM’s Office

Prime Minister’s Office in a statement said yesterday that there is no truth in the rumors circulating in the mainstream media and social media for several days Mahinda Rajapaksa is stepping down.

The Media Secretary to the Prime Minister, Rohan Weliwita further said that he strongly rejects such false propaganda which is misleading the people of the country.

Several reports circulated in mainstream media as well as social media that Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will step down this year and some even reported that Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa is seeking the post.
