Priyumali’s paramour cum business partner remanded

The alleged paramour and business partner of Thilini Priyamali was yesterday produced before the Colombo Fort Acting Magistrate and remanded till 19 October.

The suspect Isuru Bandara was produced before the Fort Acting Magistrate Shalani Perera by the CID allegedly for aiding and abetting the first suspect Thilini Priyamali who had run the business “Thico Group Ltd,” at World Trade Centre and had defrauded millions of rupees to businessmen promising high returns for their investments. The CID submitted that they arrested the suspect Isuru Bandara on a complaint made by businessman Abdul Hassan Kamal Hassan.

The CID investigations on the suspect had revealed that the suspect had aided and abetted Thilini Priyamali to defraud several millions of rupees to businessmen. They also said that the suspect was also involved with Priyamali to defraud Abdul Hassan Kamal Hassan with several millions of dollars, Australian dollars and one Kilo of gold worth ten million.

The Police further asserted that Isuru Bandara while being her paramour had been the Director of Piyumali’s Company.

The CID further said that Isuru Bandara had also been involved in a vehicle defraud case.

They also said that Isuru Bandara had defrauded over eight million to a businessman on several occasions. The detectives told the Magistrate that the suspect had got to know Thilini Priyamali in 2019 through Facebook and there onwards they had been paramours and that Bandara had played a major role defrauding business by the first suspect. They also said that the suspect had travelled abroad on eight occasions.

The first suspect Thilini Priyamali was earlier remanded till 19 October by Colombo Fort Magistrate’s court for defrauding Rs. 226 million, $ 60,000, and Australian $ 100,000 for businessmen.

Former Western Province Governor Azad Sally also had complained to the CID that Priyamali had defrauded him around Rs. 40 million.
