RCSSL expresses condolence on demise of patron Queen Elizabeth II

The Royal Commonwealth Society of Sri Lanka (RCSSL) President Major General (Retd) Tilak Paranagama, VSV USP and the Members in a special message have expressed their “profound sadness” and conveyed their “deepest condolences to King Charles III of the UK and the Royal family on the bereavement of his mother Queen Elizabeth II”, who was the Patron of the RCSSL.

The condolence message said: “Queen Elizabeth II led the Royal Commonwealth Society as Patron during her entire reign as Queen of the UK. We are indebted to her outstanding leadership, commitment and guidance to the Royal Commonwealth Society and the offspring Societies, of which we are proudly one.

“We share the grief with all those across the world mourning the loss of a great leader having been the Head of State of the UK and of the Realms and who served as Head of the Commonwealth of 54 countries and as the Queen of Ceylon from 1953 to 1972, during which tenure and even after, she was so loved.”

The Royal Commonwealth Society Sri Lanka has further stated that it will “stands in line with mourning that is followed, with great respect for our beloved Patron.”
