Ragging: 19 Ruhunu Uni students remanded till Aug.19

The Matara Magistrate yesterday remanded 19 students of the Ruhunu University till 19 August  when they were produced in Court on charges of threatening the Dean of the Science Faculty, police said. They had threatened the Dean after an unannounced raid was carried out on receiving information that some freshers at the Eliyakanda hostel were to be ragged.

The Science Faculty has been closed since 31 July until further notice.
