Random testing to take place at Western Province entry, exit points

COVID-19 testing will take place at 12 entry and exit points in the Western Province to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

The exit/entry points include the Thoppuwa Bridge – Kochchikade, Badalgama Bridge – Kotadeniyawa, Helagala Junction – Nittambuwa, Giriulla Bridge – Mirigama, Samanabedda Bridge – Dompe, Wanahagoda Bridge – Hanwella, Bentara Bridge – Aluthgama, Thiniyawala Junction, Ketakedella Bridge – Ingiriya, and Aviththawa Bridge – Meegahathenna.

Testing will also take place near the Sri Sumana Saman Devalaya – Baduraliya and the Welipenna Interchange – Southern Expressway.

“In order to prevent COVID-19 from spreading between provinces and regions, health officials, Sri Lanka Police and the Tri-Forces will carry out testing at 12 entry/exit points from the Western Province from 12 p.m. on 29 April,” Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He added that health officials will also take measures to perform rapid antigen tests at random on persons entering or exiting the Western Province.
