Remains of fallen UN Peacekeepers arrive

The remains of the two Sri Lanka Army personnel, posthumously promoted late Major H.W.D. Jayawickrama and Sergeant S.S. Wijekumara,who were killed while engaged in peacekeeping operations in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), were received ceremoniously yesterday at the Bandaranaike International Airport.   

MINUSMA Force Commander Lieutenant General Dennis Gyllensporre of Sweden, UN Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka Hanaa Singer, State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene and Army Commander Mahesh Senanayake were among those present at the ceremony – Pix by Kumarasiri Prasad, Our Airport Correspondent
