Right of Reply: Singer corrects Daily FT story

With reference to the article titled ‘LPG Victim sues stove manufacturer, seller’ published on 20 December in Daily FT, Singer Sri Lanka PLC issued the following statement.

On the perusal of the article, it is clear that the same does not represent the proceedings of Court on 14 December 2021. Although it is true that there is a pending case in the District Court of Colombo which was filed in 2015, the reporter has intentionally, maliciously opted not to report the facts as it took place on that day in court which was a date for cross examination of the Plaintiff.

In fact, the said Plaintiff, Anoma Wasanthi, answering questions in the cross examination as well as by court, stated that she was not certain as to how she was injured while cooking, as to whether it was a fault in the cooker or not, although later for obvious reasons she tried to state the opposite.
