The Government has decided to extend the Rs. 5,000 allowance to an additional 13,000 kidney patients in 11 districts.
The livelihood assistance program is being implemented in 82 Divisional Secretariats in 11 districts. These are Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Vavuniya, Matale, Trincomalee, Ampara, Kurunegala, Mullaitivu, Badulla, Monaragala and Hambantota.
A total of 25,320 low income kidney patients are being paid this amount under this program.
Cabinet approval was given to provide this assistance for another 13,849 low income kidney patients on the waiting list.
