  • .Opines the duo should have been given a year more to turn around economy
  • Accuses JVP and SJB of disrupting Gotabaya Rajapaksa Govt.’s COVID combatting efforts
  • Blames JVP for all SL’s woes of the past
  • Calls JVP a terrorist outfit and claims party is attempting to stir up trouble once more

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP S.B. Dissanayake this week expressed his confidence that former Minister of Finance Ajith Nivard Cabraal and former Permanent Secretary to the President P.B. Jayasundera would have turned around Sri Lanka’s economy.

“Had we not used the term ‘bankrupt’ and given them one more year they would have revived the country’s economy,” Dissanayake told the media.

He claimed the Government of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had managed the COVID-19 pandemic remarkably well and carried out one of the most successful vaccination campaigns in the world.

“It was the JVP and the SJB that turned the COVID-19 situation into a problem. They brought people onto the roads and created a chaotic situation,” he claimed.

Unleashing a barrage of vitriol against the leftist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) the MP blamed the country’s problems of the past on the party and its activities.

“They are a party of all words and no action,” he said. The MP said the party destroyed Sri Lanka in the 1970s and 80s.

“80 000 youth died on the roads because of them. It was the JVP which created the background for Premadasa to come to power. They threatened personnel from the police and military and asked them to resign,” he said.

Dissanayake called the JVP a terrorist outfit and said the Government must not be ignored as they are attempting to cause chaos in society yet again.
