SIS Chief gives closed camera testimony for five hours

State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director Senior Deputy Inspector General Nilantha Jayawardena has testified before the Parliament Select Committee in closed camera on Wednesday night. 

The Select Committee, which commenced questioning Jayawardena at 8 pm on Wednesday, continued till 1 am.

Briefing media with the little information that could be shared publicly, the Deputy Speaker and the Chair of Committees Ananda Kumarasiri said: “The hearing had gone till 1 am on 25 April. I could not attend. So, Dr. Jayampathi Wickremaratne chaired the hearing after I left. Other committee members were present. I must specially thank the Parliament staff members for staying until the end of the hearing, and facilitating the PSC. Without their support, the hearing could not have been successful.”

Kumarasiri did not reveal any other information regarding Jayawardena’s testimony. (AH)
