Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) aligned Anti-Corruption Force Chairman Mujibur Rahuman yesterday submitted a Right to Information Request to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) concerning an alleged transfer of land to the private sector. According to the party, the SLPA is believed to have disregarded the proper established protocol in conducting the deal.
In the request, Rahuman questioned the SLPA if cabinet approval was provided for the transfer and if a negotiation committee had been appointed in relation to the investment of South Asia logistic centres in the port of Colombo. He has also requested the SLPA to provide information on any determination made by such a committee if appointed and the grounds on which the determination was made.
The RTI request also asked for information on any agreement struck relating to South Asia logistic centres in the port of Colombo and if the draft agreement was submitted to the Attorney General for review as required.
Rahuman has requested relevant documentation sent to the SLPA on the deal by the Attorney Generals’ Department and the Ministry of Finance. He has sought an explanation from the SLPA if the relevant land to be invested as a logistic centre was valued if there was an amendment to the valuation later and all relevant documentation.
