SJB makes new appointments

• 31 appointments made as party prepares to engage more on different issues

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) working committee yesterday appointed members to a number of party positions, with Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka being appointed as Chairman of the party. 

According to the SJB, Sajith Premadasa and Ranjith Madduma Bandara will remain Party Leader and General Secretary respectively. Parliamentarian Tissa Attanayake has been appointed as the National Organiser. SJB General Secretary Bandara confirmed the appointments.  

Other appointments include Ajith P. Perera as the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Harsha de Silva as Treasurer, Buddkika Pathirana as the Deputy National Organiser and Harin Fernando as a Vice Chairman. MP Nalin Bandara has been appointed as Deputy Secretary.

Parliamentarians Lakshman Kiriella, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, Kumara Welgama, Imtiaz Bakir Markar and Ravindra Samaraweera have been appointed as Senior Vice Chairmen.

The working committee has also appointed Seven Vice Chairpersons: Talatha Athukorala, Chandrani Bandara, Gayantha Karunathilaka, P. Harrison, Dilip Wedaarachchi, A.L.H.M. Haleem and Sujeewa Senasinghe. 

Eran Wickramaratne was appointed as Secretary - Research and Development. Niroshan Perera has been appointed to the post of Secretary - International Relations, while Tissa Wijegunawardena PC and Farman Cassim PC have been appointed as legal secretaries. Manusha Nanayakkara and S.M. Marikar were appointed as media spokespersons for the party. 

In all, 31 party positions were filled, the SJB said.
