Foreign Secretary Aruni Wijewardane will lead Sri Lanka’s delegation to the seventh round of bilateral political consultations between Sri Lanka and Pakistan scheduled to be held in Islamabad on 30 July.
The seventh round of bilateral political consultations will be co-chaired by Wijewardane and Pakistan Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi.
The consultations are expected to review the current status of the bilateral relations and the progress achieved in areas of cooperation such as economic and trade, defence and security, education, culture, media and sports, consular matters, agriculture, as well as technology.
On the sidelines of the consultations, the Foreign Secretary is scheduled to call on the Deputy Prime Minister and Pakistan Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
Sri Lanka’s delegation will also include the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Pakistan Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne and senior officials from the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad.
The last (sixth) round of bilateral political consultations between Sri Lanka and Pakistan was held virtually in December 2020.
