A consignment of two million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine is due to arrive in the island by the first week of July, State Minister of Pharmaceutical Production, Supply and Regulation Prof. Channa Jayasumana yesterday said.
With the two million doses of Sinopharm received in June, the July shipment would mean the country has received four million of the thirteen million doses of Sinopharm ordered. Sri Lankan also received a donation of 1.1 million doses of the vaccine from China.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 26,273 persons were vaccinated against COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the country’s fully vaccinated population to 842,183.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 2,482,166 persons have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Among the persons vaccinated on Monday are 6,358 persons who received the first dose of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine and 12,935 persons who received the second dose of the vaccine. In total, the first dose has been administered to 1,443,470 persons and the second dose to 455,592 persons.
The first dose of Sputnik V was administered to 6,848 persons on Monday, bringing the total number of persons to receive the first dose of the vaccine to 113,454. The second dose of Sputnik V has been administered to 14,301 persons.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 132 persons received the second dose of AstraZeneca on Monday. At present, 925,242 persons have received the first dose of AstraZeneca and 372,290 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine.
