SLPP to propose new program for way forward

• Announces SLPP will introduce new program for country in the near future

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam said the party is prepared to present a new program for the revival of the country in the near future. 

“If the people are favourable to it they will vote for us. If they prefer things to remain as they are, they will not,” he remarked. 

Kariyawasam said despite the party’s reservations regarding the ongoing Government program, they have had to go along with it as it was what the people called for. 

“President Ranil Wickremesinghe is delivering precisely what the people requested, as they expressed their preference for rejecting aid and advocated for tax increases, which he is now implementing,” Kariyawasam said. “This is what they took to the streets and called for through the Aragalaya,” he added. 

He said the SLPP will soon introduce a new and distinct program for the nation, emphasising that in a democracy, everything is shaped by the preferences of the people.
