The ruling Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is preparing to introduce its new political program at the second party conference, slated for December 15 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.
Speaking at a press conference, SLPP MP Sanjeewa Edirimanna emphasised that 2024 would be an election year, and the party would therefore introduce its new political plan at the forthcoming conference.
According to Edirimanne, the party has effectively strengthened its presence at the grassroots level and is now taking steps to elevate the party’s profile at the national level. He mentioned that the second-party general conference will align with these strategic initiatives aimed at all upcoming elections.
“2024 will be an election year. The Presidential election must be held. We also expect the parliamentary election will be held accordingly. The conference is being planned to unveil our political program to the people,” he said.
The MP recognized the challenging nature of the current political landscape but emphasised that the party is ready to confront any obstacles that may arise.
