SJB and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa
By Darshana Abayasingha
SJB and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said it would take at least five years to undo the damage done to the Sri Lankan economy over the past three years, and requested the public not to be misled by claims that immediate solutions could be found by some parties.
“This is the bitter truth, and sometimes people do not like to hear the truth. I humbly request the public to make informed decisions and not be misled as they were during 2019 and 2020,” Premadasa stated.
The Opposition Leader averred there can no longer be room for governance based on blatant lies and mismanagement, but instead a process that considers pragmatic actionable solutions that will provide short-term relief for people to live, coupled with a long-term strategy to revive the economy.
“The SJB is prepared to give leadership to such a process that encompasses all progressive political forces, and we invite everyone to join hands with us to rebuild Sri Lanka,” Premadasa said. The family-centric, authoritarian rule of the Rajapaksas must end, he said, and once again called on the President and the Prime Minister to step down, and stop sending the country deeper into the mire.
