Leader of the Opposition and SJB Sajith Premadasa hands over the appointment letter to a polling station leader for Kolonnawa electorate. SJB Colombo District MP/Co-Media Spokesman S.M. Marikkar looks on
Leader of the Opposition and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Sajith Premadasa said yesterday the present Government is not sensitive to the pain and suffering of people.
Speaking at an event in Colombo, the Opposition leader said according to government representatives, the gas issue cannot be resolved for a few more weeks due to a change in valves and added that it is not the gas valves but the valves of the Government that have been replaced. Therefore, he asked the people whether there is any alternative but to oust the government that has changed its valves.
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa presided over the appointment of polling station leaders for the Kolonnawa electorate of Samagi Jana Balawegaya Colombo District Member of Parliament and Co-Media Spokesman S.M. Marikkar.
Speaking further, the Leader of the Opposition said that the SJB, as the Opposition, revealed all information to the country from the day the gas tragedy began, and that the entire government, including the two ministers in charge of the subject, fled without answering.
Premadasa said: “The two ministers are the creators of catastrophic explosions in houses, kitchen fires and loss of lives. Those two Ministers lied to people then, and now the Chairman of the Gas Company has come forward to tell lies on their behalf.”
The Leader of the Opposition said that a government is elected to protect the people and unfortunately the Sri Lankan Government is almost killing people. Accordingly, the present Government is a genocidal government, he said, adding that the Government is not sensitive to the pain and suffering of people.
He also said that this Government, which came to power over corpses through incidents such as the Easter attack, was never sensitive to issues of people.
The Leader of the Opposition said that people are expressing their anger against those who are governing the country by hooting in the face of unbearable pressure, and added that it is a shame that the Government has fallen to such a low level as to chase after and track down them and summon them to the CID.
