Will fill vacancy created by resignation of National List MP Wickremaratne

Trade unionist Saman Rathnapriya Silva will take oaths as a UNP National List MP when Parliament meets next week.

He has been named to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Jayampathy Wickramaratne.

Rathnapriya Silva’s name was forwarded to the Election Commission by UNP’s General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and the EC issued the relevant Gazette naming him as the new MP.

He will be sworn in as a MP on 5 February before Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.
