‘Santha Sebasthian Puranaya Saha Kandana’ launched

The latest book written by Senior Attorney-at-Law Godfrey Cooray, ‘Santha Sebasthian Puranaya Saha Kandana’ (The history of Saint Sebastian and Kandana), was launched during a ceremony held at the De La Salle Auditorium, De Mazenod College in Kandana on Tuesday.

The occasion was graced by the Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith and Chief Justice Priyasath Dep who were among a host of other distinguished guests.

Cooray is a veteran of more than 40 years as an active and eminent member of the Bar Association. He studied at De Mazenod College, Kandana before entering the University of Sri Jayewardenepura where he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He is also the senior partner of the first and only law firm in Negombo, Godfrey Cooray Associates, which is a leading international consultant service provider in various sectors. The book discusses the buried history of the Muthurajawela and Aluth Kuru Korale civilisation, the history of Kandana and St. Sebastian’s Church which dates back more than a century. 

‘Santha Sebasthian Puranaya Saha Kandana’ is the outcome of more than four years of intense research conducted by Cooray on the buried history and culture of the Muthurajawela and Aluth Kuru Korale civilisation.
