Senior Central Banker Rani Fernando no more

Senior Central Bank Officer Miss C.I. Fernanado 

Senior Central Bank Officer Miss C.I. Fernanado popularly known as Rani Fernando passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday.

A well-known athlete, a national record holder, and a netball player during her young days had her primary education at Methodist College Colombo 3, alumni of the University of Peradeniya a genial personality who joined the Central Bank as a Staff Officer.  After a dedicated service in the Department of Bank Supervision for over 30 years, she retired whilst holding the position of the Director of the Bank Supervision Department of the Central Bank.  During her career in the Central Bank, she was also seconded as a consultant of the International Monetary Fund to serve the Central Bank of Lesotho to augment the supervisory powers of its Department of Bank Supervision. Her knowledge to maintain a strong banking system to ensure the financial stability of the country was remarkable.  

Her funeral will take place on Friday the 4 August at the General Cemetery, Borella at 10.30 a.m.
