The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) issued a statement yesterday claiming the Governor of the Eastern Province Senthil Thondaman has agreed to cooperate with the association, its coordinators and branch union officials in the Eastern Province.
The statement comes after the GMOA slammed Thondaman, accusing him of unprofessional behaviour towards medical professionals in the region. The GMOA this week in a communique to Thondaman requested that he rectifies his behaviour immediately or warned it would take trade union measures against his actions.
GMOA said during a meeting with it on Tuesday, Thondaman explained the possible misunderstandings which may have led to the current developments and the Governor agreed to fully cooperate with the GMOA and its representatives going forward.
The GMOA said it hopes the matters agreed upon will ensure a good working environment for medical officers of the province enabling them to execute their duties maintaining professional dignity.
