Sri Lanka yesterday received a shipment of 304,200 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine as part of the four million doses ordered by the country.
Meanwhile, daily COVID-19 vaccination numbers dropped over the weekend with only 13,431 persons vaccinated on Sunday.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 6,401 persons received the first dose of Sinopharm on Sunday, raising the total number of first dose vaccines administered to 11,680,227. The second dose of Sinopharm has been administered to 9,383,409 persons, of which 4,291 persons were vaccinated on Sunday.
The first dose of AstraZeneca was administered to 1,056 persons on Sunday and the second dose was administered to 1,097 persons. A total of 1,473,403 persons have received the first dose of AstraZeneca and 1,269,418 persons have received the second dose of AstraZeneca.
The first dose of Moderna has been administered to 800,996 persons and the second dose of the vaccine has been administered to 760,698 persons. On Sunday, 110 persons received the second dose of Moderna.
A total of 440 persons received the first dose of Pfizer on Sunday and 36 persons received the second dose of the vaccine. The first dose of Pfizer has been administered to a total of 466,485 persons and the second dose has been administered to 291,952 persons.
The first dose of Sputnik V has been administered to 159,095 persons. Of this, 155,552 persons have received the second dose as well.
According to Our World in Data, 55.14% of the country’s total population has received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. Epidemiology Unit data shows that 55.1% of the 20 to 30 age group has received the first dose of a vaccine and 12.9% has received the second dose as well.
In total, the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 14,580,206 persons and the second dose has been administered to 11,858,029 persons.
Meanwhile, National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) Head Gen. Shavendra Silva said President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is expected to issue instructions on the vaccination of the 15 to 19 age group this week.
