Father of two brothers involved in bombings also among remanded till 14 Feb.
Six suspects including the father of two of the Easter Sunday suicide bombers were further remanded until 14 February yesterday, after investigators informed court they needed more time to continue investigations.
The order was issued by the Colombo Additional Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali Jayatunga.
When the suspects were produced before court, the officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) told the Additional Magistrate that probes into the suspects were yet to be concluded and made a request to remand them further.
Accordingly, the six suspects were ordered to be remanded until 14 February. The second blast on Easter Sunday at the Shangri-La Hotel was carried out by Mohamed Ibrahim Ilham Ahmed, the son of local spice businessman Mohamed Ibrahim. His brother, Mohamed Ibrahim Insaf Ahmed, had carried out the blast at Cinnamon Grand Hotel.
Their father and the other suspects were arrested following the devastating attacks that targeted three hotels and three churches and killed over 260 people.
