A special COVID-19 vaccination week commenced yesterday and will continue until 17 January, health officials said.
According to Health Services Director General Dr. Asela Gunawardena, instructions have been issued to establish four additional vaccination centres in MOH divisions. “Vaccination centres will be set up in hospitals, from provincial hospitals and teaching hospitals to base hospitals, until 8 p.m.,” he said.
A mobile service will be arranged for those who cannot visit vaccination centres, and such persons are required to inform the nearest MOH. In addition to this, mobile vaccination will be arranged for residents of apartments in Colombo so they can get vaccinated at the premises.
According to Dr. Gunawardena, the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine will be administered to persons getting the booster dose and the Sinopharm vaccine will be administered to persons getting the first dose.
