Special security plan for Christmas

• Additional armed forces and Police pre-deployed 
• Special emphasis on places of worship and Catholic community

Public security is to be enhanced islandwide during the festive season with a special emphasis on areas where there is a large Christian and Catholic community. 

The Ministry of Defence in a press release yesterday said that all necessary measures would be taken to ensure security of the people under a special security plan. 

“Foreseeing the necessity of strengthening security during the festive season, additional security personnel from the tri-forces and the Police have been deployed from the last two weeks,” the statement read. 

The armed forces and Police will also work closely with local vigilance committees and local authorities to provide security for public venues and places of worship.
