Sputnik V to be given to persons in Gothatuwa, Colombo

The country’s immunisation program using Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine received on 4 May from Russia will begin in the Gothatuwa Health Division in Colombo today.

On 4 May, Sri Lanka received 15,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine from Russia and the country is due to receive 13 million doses by the end of the year. The first batch of vaccines will be administered to persons between the ages of 30 and 60 and the second dose will be administered after 21 days. The COVID-19 immunisation program is also currently administering the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. According to the Epidemiology Unit, 139,286 out of the 925,242 persons who received the first dose have been fully vaccinated.
