Sri Lanka Malay Confederation celebrates 35th anniversary on 14 Sept. with sports events

The Sri Lanka Malay Confederation (SLAMAC) established on 18 August 1984 is the umbrella body of all the Malay associations in Sri Lanka. The affiliated member associations of SLAMAC are Colombo Malay Cricket Club, Sri Lanka Malay Association, Aalul Mahfil Union, SLMA Rupee Fund, Uva Malay Association, Nawalapitiya Malay Association, Ruhunu Malay Association, Kandy Malay Association, Mabole Malay Association, Kurunegala Malay Association, Sri Lanka United Malay Organisation, Matale Malay Association, Malay Association Kolonnawa Electorate, Negombo Malay Association, Gampola Malay Association, Conference of Sri Lankan Malays, Kumpulan Melayu Battaramulla, Hill Country Malay Association, Persatuan Kampong Melayu Hunupitiya, Kumpulan Melayu Kotikawatte, Perkumpulan Melayu Di Puttulam, Pertubuhan Bangsa Melayu Di Sri Lanka, Malay Association Kadawatha-Kiribathgoda, Women’s Association of Sri Lanka Malays, Mattegoda Malay Association, and Malay Welfare Association of Makola. 

The body was formed to preserve their rich heritage and culture and promote unity, understanding, cooperation and harmony among Malays and Malay organisations in Sri Lanka and to promote, uphold and maintain friendly relations with all other communities in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lanka Malay Confederation will be holding a ‘Members Day’ on Saturday, 14 September commencing at 8 a.m. at the Padang Complex, Colombo 2 to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Confederation. The event will consist of games such as cricket, netball, rugby, sepak takraw, badminton and fun games for the children and quiz competition. The event will unfold a presentation of cultural performances in an ambiance of traditional Malay and Sri Lankan cuisines. All are welcome!
