Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera yesterday discussed Sri Lanka’s commitment and progress towards transition into clean power generation with High Commissioner of the United Kingdom Sarah Hulton.
Taking to Twitter the Minister noted that they discussed initiatives including new coal power plants, offshore wind energy development, 70% renewable energy by 2030, achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, carbon credits and technical assistance related to achieving Government policy.
Power and Energy State Minister D.V. Chanaka, President’s Adviser on Climate Change Ruwan Wijewardene and other officials attended the meeting.
