Sri Lanka will receive maximum support from China Communist Party: Deputy Minister Guo Yezhou

China Communist Party International Department Deputy Minister Guo Yezhou, speaking to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, said that Sri Lanka will receive the maximum support from their Party and the people of the country in its intention of becoming the economic and financial centre of the Indian Ocean.

The ‘One Belt – One Road’ initiative, which was started by China President Xi Jinping, will open up space for this, he added, speaking at Temple Trees after meeting with Prime Minister Wickremesinghe on Thursday.

Ideas on how to strengthen ties between the Communist Party and the UNP that have lasted for decades were also exchanged during the discussion.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe thanked the members of the Communist Party for the support they have given Sri Lanka and the UNP.

The importance of having foreign exchange programs between the two parties was further highlighted.
