Sri Lankan Ambassador presents Letters of Credence to President of Lithuania

Ambassador Sudantha Ganegama Arachchi and Republic of Lithuania President Dalia Grybauskaitè

Ambassador Sudantha Ganegama Arachchi presented Letters of Credence to Dalia Grybauskaitè, President of the Republic of Lithuania, as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Lithuania with residence in Sweden on 27 May.

After the presentation of Credentials, Ganegama Arachchi had a one-on-one meeting with the Lithuanian President. While conveying warm greetings from President Maithripala Sirisena, Ganegama Arachchi discussed possibilities of having closer bilateral cooperation to share knowledge and expertise in the field of Information Technology and life sciences where Lithuania has made remarkable progress.

The Lithuanian President said that her country is prepared to have such cooperation with Sri Lanka.  Ganegama Arachchi also met Vice Minister Neris Germanas and the relevant senior officials of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry to exchange views on matters of bilateral importance. During these meetings, the need for signing a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations was agreed.

Ganegama Arachchi met with the members of the Association of Lithuanian Chambers of Commerce, and Lithuanian Business Confederation to discuss possibilities of strengthening bilateral trade relations and promoting Sri Lanka tourism.  Ambassador also had a meeting with a group of Sri Lankan students in Lithuania and requested them to form an association and to have regular interactions with the Embassy.

Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Lithuania Elijus Burgis extended necessary assistance during the visit.  The Ambassador was accompanied by the Minister of the Embassy Harsha Vithanaarachchi to Lithuania.
