State Minister Premitha Bandara Tennakoon
People are now beginning to enjoy the economic benefits of the government’s special effort to recover from the recent severe economic crisis and in order to forge ahead all people should unite and work in harmony for the sake of national development, said the Defense State Minister Premitha Bandara Tennakoon.
Defense State Minister made these remarks while attending an ‘Ifthar’, Islamic breaking Ramazan fast at Beruwala on Wednesday.
State Minister Tennakoon was warmly received by a representative group of prominent people in Beruwala when he arrived for the ‘Ifthar’ at China Fort and later sat down for the traditional breaking of fast.
“Under the President’s leadership we have been able to work our way out of a severe economic crisis, curb a wave of crimes and we have the responsibility to ensure its continuation. We do not believe in a repressive policy nor can we afford to allow anyone to disrupt the lives of the people,” he said speaking to the media.
The State Minister stressing the need for unity among the people said that: “We are working with a new vision under the leadership of a new president and new government.”
“The distrust and disunity among the people should be removed first to build trust and unity towards building a greater Sri Lanka, so I call upon all to work in unity and harmony,” he added.
A gathering of prominent community leaders, professionals and businessmen were present at the occasion.
