Stock market ends negative run as buyers return

The Colombo stock market today closed on the up after tumultuous sessions in recent weeks. The active S&PSL20 shot up by 13.5% and the benchmark All Share Price Index gained by over 5%. Turnover was Rs. 2.18 billion involving 14.4 million shares. In the last two sessions the market lost Rs. 600 billion in value after dropping 10% each day. Brokers said fresh buying of fundamentally sound stocks going at bargain price boosted the indices.
