The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) yesterday faulted the Government’s Policy Statement delivered by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Tuesday after inaugurating the Second Session of the 9th Parliament. TNA spokesperson M.A. Sumanthiran said that the statement failed to address any of the pressing issues facing the country, adding that it had also not contained any meaningful response to resolving the national issue.“The policy statement fails to address the national issue. The Government seeks the support of Tamil political parties in the North and East to overcome the current issues, but it has failed to address the current reality,” the TNA parliamentarian charged.

“The people of the North and East voted for the TNA based on the policies that were presented to them. How can we abandon these policies and the aspirations of the people in the two provinces? This can’t be done,” Sumanthiran added.
