‘Tell the President’ program gets e-Swabhimani 

The ‘Tell the President’ program implemented by the Presidential Secretariat for the public to submit any complaints, suggestions, ideas and grievances directly to President Maithripala Sirisena was recently awarded an e-Swabhimani gold award.

The Information and Communication Technology Agency selected the ‘Tell the President’ program due to it making maximum use of information technology to serve the public. The award was presented to the President at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.

Ministry of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure Secretary Wasantha Deshapriya presented this award to the President. Sri Lanka Telecom Chairman Kumarasinghe Sirisena, Additional Secretary to the President Sunanda Kariyapperuma, Senior Assistant Secretary Samanthi Ranasinghe, SLT Mobitel Senior General Manager Information Systems Saman Perera, General Manager Prabhath Gamage and others were present at the occasion.

The ‘Tell the President’ program was introduced on 8 January 2016 on the first anniversary of the arrival of the current administration led by President Maithripala Sirisena.

Citizens can submit their complaints, suggestions, ideas and grievances directly to the President through the ‘Tell the President’ program by calling 1919, emails, SMS and letters. The objective of this project is to provide quick solutions to issues presented by the public.

The complaints are examined by the Public Relations Unit of the Presidential Secretariat and they are directed to the relevant ministries or institutions for further action.

All activities are performed through a computerised system. The ‘Tell the President’ program has received 164,504 complaints so far while 62,351 complaints out of these have been solved. There are currently 59,351 unresolved complaints.
