Thamankaduwa PS Chairman arrested

The Chairman of the Thamankaduwa Pradeshiya Sabha, Premasiri Munasinghe, has been arrested, the Police said.

Munasinghe was arrested together with two others for allegedly obstructing police officers from carrying out their duties.

Munasinghe was accused of threatening two policemen on traffic duty on Tuesday. The policemen had instructed the driver of a vehicle to move the vehicle off a pedestrian crossing on Monday.

However, Munasinghe and two others had then verbally and physically abused the policemen for instructing the driver of the vehicle to move the vehicle.
