Three foreign nationals among five arrested with 90 kg of heroin worth over Rs. 1 b

Five suspects including three foreign nationals have been arrested with 90 kilograms of heroin at a luxury apartment building in the Kollupitiya area.

The suspects were arrested during a raid conducted by the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) and the Police Special task Force (STF). The suspects were arrested along with the drugs inside an apartment in the first floor of the luxury apartment building.

The heroin was found packed into 90 parcels, weighing one kilogram each. The heroin haul is estimated to be worth around Rs. 1,080 million. Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said the arrested suspects include two American nationals aged 29 and 43, a 45 year old Afghan national and two Sri Lankans, aged 41 and 39. The Sri Lankans are residents of Hikkaduwa.
