Top officials from the Police Department including the Chief of the State Intelligence Service (SIS) have been summoned to appear before the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing the Easter Sunday attacks on 24 July, Committee Chair Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri said.

The others called to give evidence before the Committee the same day are Senior DIG / SIS Nilantha Jayawardena, Senior DIG of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Ravi Senaviratne, and CID Director Shani Abeysekera.

Kumarasiri said the Director General of the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) Waruna Jayasundara, and TID Police Inspector Tharanga Pathirana have also been asked to appear before the PSC.

The officials were to appear before the Committee today, but the date was rescheduled as some of them were abroad and some had prior engagements with the National Police Commission.

The PSC sessions on 24 July are likely to be off-limits for the media, even though Kumarasiri said the Committee would provide audio recordings of the session to journalists.
