Travel restrictions that will be enforced until 4:00 a.m. on Friday will be relaxed between 4:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. tomorrow for essential purposes only, National Operations Centre for the Prevention of the COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) Head Gen. Shavendra Silva said yesterday.
According to Gen. Silva, only one member from a household will be permitted to leave the house on Tuesday.
He added that travel restrictions will be lifted tomorrow so the public can purchase and access essential goods and services and only outlets providing essential goods and services will be permitted to operate. This includes groceries, pharmacies, and filling stations.
Liquor stores will remain closed and non-essential public gatherings will not be permitted.
Despite travel restrictions due to be lifted on Friday, the NOCPCO Head said restrictions to be enforced over the weekend will be determined based on the situation on Thursday.
