Two COVID-19 fatalities confirmed

Health officials confirmed two COVID-19 fatalities on Thursday, raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 16,479.

Both COVID-19 fatalities confirmed on Thursday were over 60 years, the Department of Government Information states. Zero COVID-19 fatalities were confirmed from the under-30 and 30 to 59 age groups on Thursday.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 76.27% of the total COVID-19 deaths are over 60 years, 22.41% are between 30 and 59 years and 1.32% are below 30 years.

A total of 9,299 COVID-19 deaths confirmed to date are male. This includes the two COVID-19 fatalities confirmed on Thursday. The Epidemiology Unit states that a total of 7,180 COVID-19 deaths are female.
