The Cabinet of Ministers at their inaugural meeting on Monday approved appointing two advisers to guide President Anura Kumara Dissanayake with matters related to finance and economy.
Speaking at the first weekly post-Cabinet meeting under the new Government, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Vijitha Herath announced that the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Chairman Duminda Hulangamuwa and University of Sri Jayewardenepura Prof. Anil Fernando were appointed as Senior Advisers for Economic and Finance on honorary basis. He stated that the appointments were made as per powers vested by the Article 41 (91) of the Constitution, appoint his staff by consulting the Cabinet of Ministers.
The two honorary appointments are effective from 24 September 2024.
