A committee comprising of Cabinet Ministers has been appointed with the participation of the President, Prime Minister, and Buddhism, Religious and Cultural Affairs, National Integration, Social Security and Mass Media Minister for guidance and supervision for holding the 77th Independence Day celebrations on 4 February 2025.
Cabinet Spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath said a monitoring committee with the participation of chief officers of all relevant Ministries and Departments, including the tri forces and Police, has also been appointed, enabling the organisation of the Independence Day celebrations in a grand manner.
The proposal on the appointment of the two committees was presented by the Prime Minister in her capacity as the Justice, Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, Local Government and Labour Minister.
